Having got a pro-tip from Americans at the dunny we opted for the complementary tour of the fleshpots of Doha city. It turns out to be hotter than hades in Doha but our merry group of travellers enter the tour bus led by our jolly Nepalese Sherpa guide. It turns out that no Qatarwegians will sully themselves by working in any other job less important than university professor. It also turns out that today is national Lawrence of Arabia day with everybody dressed up as Peter O'Toole or Omar Sharif-we feel quite underdressed. Doha is made of iconic skyscrapers and sand and not much else. We visit the local souk where there is a roaring trade in wheelbarrows used by the locals as armchairs. Then back to the airport for a shower and then next stop Roma.
We are met by our driver who takes us seamlessly to our AIRBNB joint where we are met by our hostess. Then off to our first Italian meal at Armando Del Pantheon. It is hotter than expected here but we are well acclimated thank to our Quatarnian experience.
