yesterday was short.
We went to Wat Chiang man is the oldest in Chiang Mai.
It it was built and lived in by a King while Chiang Mai was being built.
the temple holds one of the most treasured artifacts in Thailand. A Buddha image called Phar Sae Tang Kamini (crystal Buddha ) it is not known when it was carved but was mentioned in 1296 when the king arranged for it to be brought to Chiang Mai. A war was fought over this , after it was returned a ceremony has been held every year since 1380 on April to mark the occasion.
altho there is a drought here in Thailand . It may be changing now. It Rained. Then it RAined. Then it RAIned. Then it RAINed
thankfully we had just started walking out of the Wat.
Went to to a cafe and had a really nice meal and waited for the rain to slow.
Well that didn't happen bought another umbrella you cannot walk side by side on these narrow side walks.
Today we caught a red truck to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. First thing this morning . Up up in the hills 9.3 miles from town . on a twisty windy road
Lush green trees and bushes. Beautiful and cool first thing in the morning.
Most every tourist that comes to Chiang Mai makes his way to this Wat.
You have a beautiful view of Chiang Mai from an over view. You can see a storm rolling in. By the time we were ready to leave it was getting pretty foggy.
we got a lot of pictures , it was cloudy but still pretty.
the original founding of the temple remains legend.
it is said to be founded in 1383 it has been expanded over the years A road was built in 1935
You have 309 steps to reach the pagoda Then 309 steps down.
