West Mcdonnel Range Devils Marbels Alice Springs
Davenport, Northern Territory
There are 3 parts to West Mcdonnell Range and we said we will go to 1 of them and get to some normallity and get to Alice Springs.
So we arrived at the range and took on the 30 minute hike to get there not before picking up some Italians who wouldnt risk there car going over a bumpy road to the car park... Brucie is inderstuctable...
So we got to the first of the 3 fresh water springs in the middle of the desert (Crazy) only to be greeted by a bottomless inflatable boat and water snakes!! Nice that didnr faze the tazy couple but the 3 idiots were having none of it we managed a quick dip to freshen up and i mean quick as it was about minus 20 in the water!!
We had arranged to meet up with the gang in Alice Springs and afeter being there 5 minutes we realised we wanted to get the f*** outta there!!
We did a 100 dollar shop at coles and stocked up and when we had finally put it all away in the overloaded Brucie... Anna was just pulling out the car park to be greeted by a knock on the window!! The most beautiful woman you ever did see errrrr DONT THINK we all got a lil fright by the sight of that thing begging for money we had been told to give them something as they probably kill you NO JOKE.
So we got to a campsite had a nice hot shower met up with the gang phoned home heard some awful storys about the locals which made us want to move on ASAP. The night was spent eating a well deserved steak each and the final evening of the gang all together.
We said our goodbyes to the gang exchanged email Facebook numbers etc. etc. and hit the road once again. Heading towards Devils Marbels.
William rang us and said to meet up at the last rest stop before Devils Marbels has he wanted to get a bottle of local wine and share one last drink with us so we agreed...................After filling up at the main UFO siting station in Australia it was starting to get dark and no sign of the french couple or signal on our phone we contemplated staying there but thought better of it and headed another 80km north........Good job i took the wheel at the petrol station as it was now darkness theres no way Anna would of seen the full heard of f***ing cows crossing the road we were very tired at this point and desperate to get to the rest stop.
Safe and sound at the rest stop with dinner in full swing and no sign of the French lads we were strating to get a little worried, sure thing they pulled in and we were able to share some mango and apple wine under the stars with some good friends!!
We set off in the morning and headed to Devils marbles were we saw our first Dingo and were a little mythed by these giant rocks that were there for no apparent reason still worth the look and a another wonder of the world ticked off.
Off Stuart Highway and onto the Barkley Highway....
