Cairns, Queensland
Cairns tour. Me and sis had a 4 day stay at Gilligans in Cairns. I highly recomend this hostel. Young friendly people. Good beds, in and outside bar. It is a hostel for young and spontanious people. With daily party events.
Day 1:
Adrenaline junkies are what we are. Today we were realy spontanious. Before checking in at the hostel we booked and went river rafting. Sooo much fun. We were the best group paddeling perfectly down the river and streems.
Day 2:
Great Barrier reef.
We catched a boat called T6 at 07.30. It was an amazing crew. Really funny and experienced people. It was quite windy. Up too about 10 m/s. It led to some choppy waves facing the water. So almost everyone needed to grab a life vest and a floating stick to avoid to much lack of energy snorkeling.
The reef was amazing. We saw many coloured fishes. We even had a reef shark and a big sea turtle swimming under us.
Day 3/4:
We arrived at the Daintree river and rainforest where we were staying over night. I think the guide was Aboriginal foreigners. She had quite dark skin and guided us trough the rainforest barefoot. She told us that she had lived in the bush up here. In a simple house with nothing. Can you imagine?
The tour started at a wildlife habitat in Port Douglas. We saw birds, crocodiles and kangaroos.
The last day at the Daintree rainforest we went jungle surfing. The activity is a actually multi award winning and Eco certified.
They picked us up at the Beach house around 09.30. We then drived up the hills on a quite bumpy road. When we arrived we had a short briefing before putting on our gear.
They had some really cute helmets with nick names. I had Tweety pie, my sister had Mini Me. The others were Xena, Inspector gadget, Princess Lea, Pocahontas and The Incredible Hulk.
We had about a 5/10 min walk to the highest platform. On the way we saw a big lizzard. It is possible to see tree kangaroos in the area.
We slide from tree to tree in pairs to the second platform which had a beautiful view. We could se two natural wonders at once. The rainforest and The Great Barrier Reef. We also saw some beautiful bright royal blue butterflies.
You have a huge potential seeing some exotic animals and creatures while jungle surfing down the hill. It's such a fun and exciting way to experience the rainforest.
At the last platform we surfed upside down the "bogan" instructor told us that it is the right way for us since we come from the other side of the world, Norway.
Day 5:
I faced one of my biggest fears Bungy jumping..!!!! I have said that i wanted to do it for a long time.
I thought i would get that scary feeling in my stomach when i jumped out. But i didn't get it at all. I just screamed.
We went straight to the airport after the bungy jumping. Up in the air again and back to Gold Coast.
