We haven't quite left our hearts in San Francisco, but we're certainly coming away with some wonderful memories. Of all the cities we've visited on this trip this is our favourite. In seven days we've managed to see so much. We've travelled the city on street cars, buses & cable cars & walked miles up & down the (many & steep) hills. We walked across the Golden Gate Bridge - almost two miles - & then discovered there's no bus back! Fortunately a kindly tour guide took pity on us 'seniors' & gave us a lift back on her converted cable car - complete with a commentary which was very informative. Everyone here is very friendly & we've met some real characters - most of whom seem to be driving cable cars! The bay is lovely & we've been able to stroll along the beaches & around the wharfs in the sunshine. This place is a shoppers paradise & there are plenty of coffee shops, although it throws them completely if you ask for a pot of tea! We've found some good places to eat - one of our favourites is Lori's Diner which is decorated in 50's/60's style. Now it's back to Blighty with some great memories of all the wonderful places we've visited. So you can all look forward to being regaled with stories & photos ad nauseum! Until then..................
