Hello again and Happy New Year!!
Well we arrived in Sydney and for once the hostel was actually in walking distance from the station!! Of course we got there and wished we hadnt! Its really horrible! It has about 12 floors and one tiny kitchen for all those people, the kitchen fridge doors dont shut, only 2 hobs work and everything is dirty! They have one room called the church which has 28 beds in it, apparently its full of roaches!!
They had a trip to a bar the evening we arrived so we thought it would be a good thing to do, we were so wrong! A bus takes you there so we step outside to find what looks like an old school bus covered in spray paint! We got on board and they start playing really loud music. People dance in the isles while the bus moves and everyone outside points and laughs as the bus goes past!!
Sydney is nice, it has a monorail which of course we have been on! We got a bit confused as we thought there was only one harbour but turns out theres a few! The best being Darling Harbour, its got nice restaurants and generally looks nice! We got bored and went to the maritime museum there, it has Otzi the travelling ice man in it! Its a pretty horrible mummy to look at but provided some amusement!!
We took a ferry to Manly to go to the beach but it was closed as the waves were too big! So instead we started laughing at the store names, such as Manly Cosmetics!
We were a bit worried about new years as we didnt book anything but we got down to Circular quay and got some dinner and then found that the rocks had loads of pubs down it and a big street party going on so it worked out fine! We missed the Childrens fireworks at 8 as we were standing behind a tree getting drinks from a shipping container! But by 11 we moved down the road and ended up nearly under the harbour bridge to watch from there, they were really good! We Returned to the rocks the next day to have a good look around, turns out its the sight of the first Orgy in Australia! Only in Oz would you find something like that being remembered!!
We have been to the Blue mountains, so called as a blue haze comes of the trees growing there! It was quite nice but very expensive. The have a train that goes down the side of the mountain vertically, kate hated it!! Makes a change as its usually me screaming to get off!!
We're off to Bondi Beach tomorrow and then its on to Coffs Harbour. You will have to wait for some pictures as ive managed to find the only pc that you cant upload on!
