The Wandering Rupa
Hiya!!!
I'll probably struggle with this next lot of journal entries. a)because I haven't written anything in ages and b)because the computer I'm on has a broken keyboard and mouse and I'm short on time.
Well I extended my stay in St Kilda because I needed some chill-out time and I met a group of people that were too much fun to leave behind. I saw the sites, went drinking and sun-bathed (Mum - would you believe I now have a tan that would rival even yours and Ella's!). Mostly I just became a "holiday-maker" for a week or so.
I finally joined the OzEx Bus today. I've been staying in a flat with a group of lads from the Midlands and stupidly relied on them to get me up for the 6.30am pick-up. The alarm clock they used was, unfortunately, set to Queensland time and so as I was ambling around eating my Weetabix thinking it was 5.30am, it was actually 6.30 so there was a fair amount of panicking and swearing going on but thankfully some of the other passengers were late too and I got on by the skin of my teeth (Simon - if you read this I still haven't forgiven you!)
I 've definately had my money's worth from the Oz Bus so far - they really cram plenty in for us. Today we went up into the mountains to the Windy Rocks and a place called "Sparkes Lookout" (I'll put my photos on as soon as i find a computer that works). We had a good old walk and then went to "Squeaky Beach" where the sand really is clean enough that it squeaks when you walk on it. The surrounding greenland was badly damaged in a bush-fire about three years ago and - even though the land vegetation has grown back really lush and green, the tree-trunks are all still blackened (bit of trivia for you). tonight we're staying in some dorm-like cabin s on a caravan park in a town called Foster and there's plenty on the agenda for tomorrow so I'll have plenty more to say.
