Up early we were whisked into the city centre to join the rest of our group. Our first stop was the big buddha temple, several enormous big buddhas and some practising monks were a welcoming chance to stretch our legs. Arriving at the Mekong Delta we boarded a small boat and made our way to the coconut candy island the first of many local industry based islands named after there end product we visited that day and the next. We visited crocodile farms, fruit plantations, apiaries, noodle factories and paper factories, everything basic, hand made and amazing to watch. We had unnecessary donkey and cart rides and fun kayak trips through man made canals. The Cai Rang floating market was a highlight, the biggest in the Mekong Delta. Cai Rang is an amazing spectacle. Hundreds of boats of all shapes and sizes trading everything from fruit and veggies, to bbq'd rat and even the chance for an ice cold breakfast beer!…why not!! Two days flew past in a blur and we quickly found ourselves back on the bus to Saigon but our fun was far from over. Within minutes of being back on the streets we were approached by the hilarious Mr Ngugen a Vietnam war Veteran who quickly convinced us to squash into his bicycle tuk tuk for a whistle-stop tour of Saigon, realistic gun fire noises at battle locations included!
