Well what a first day! Sad farewells at kings cross, followed by the Eurostar to Brussels where we found out that our connecting train to Amsterdam would not allow us to take our bikes on unless we had the front wheels taken off and bikes put in a bike cover! So while I stood balancing two bikes, Sally made a mad dash into town to find a bike shop that would sell covers. No joy, and so we claimed a half refund on our train and had a beer to decide our next step. Our new motto should be we go with the flow, because we decided why not just go to the Antwerp instead, which we could get to for free and with our bikes! We book a hotel 10 miles out of the city and cycled along from the train station. It was an awesome move, and we had a lovely ride along bike paths all the way, with lovely blue skies keeping us company. The hotel is fantastic and we have even had a slap up meal! The waiter spent two years in London so was really nice to us too. Bikes in the room and plan made for tomorrow we will now head to Breda for the next step of our journey. Sally is fast asleep so best go. Night everyone!!! Dan and Sally xxx

Tone Wow! Let's hope things go a little more smoothly from now on. Hope you managed to get your train okay. T
Kriiss The ceahpest bikes are made of the ceahpest (and heavier) materials and poorly assembled. With the ceahpest, you may find that in a month or so, it's developed a problem. Maybe it no longer shifts well (if it ever did), Maybe the wheels are out of true. Etc, etc. Many people aren't really going to ride so the cheap bike will be OK.:-) Here in the states, about $700-$1000 (a3455-a3650) will get you a pretty good bike. Double that, and the quality will greatly increase(lighter weight, much better shifters, higher quality wheels, etc) Autos, homes as well as most items have increased in cost over the years and most people don't say much about that. But, I'm always amazed (and amused) that people think they can get a quality bike at the same price as one could be purchased 30 to 40 years ago.Happy cycling!
