I'm fleeing to the hills!
Despite my misgivings, Nha Trang turned out not to be so bad after all; no beer boys, no buckets of lethal cocktails, and nice restaurants to be found. Having tucked into a decent breakfast (yesterday's meal on the train of Laughing Cow sandwiches and snickers bars was tasty but perhaps not the most nutritious) we set off in search of the beach and were pleasantly surprised to find lovely little thatched beach huts, gorgeous bars with swimming pools, and the tastiest strawberry smoothies in Vietnam.
Still, the rain hasn't let up (no floods as yet but ankle-deep puddles - at least the rain is warm here!) so we're setting off early-early tomorrow for Da Lat; a town about 6 hours inland from Nha Trang which promises stunning scenery, introductions to local hilltribes and potentially a tour on the back of some guy called Rit's motorbike (ssh, don't tell Mum). We'll be staying at The Pink House, which sounds right up my street, and was recommended by Katie and Ollie who we met in Hanoi - guys you made it sound so good! Really looking forward to it.
So I've bitten the bullet and bought a decent raincoat (North Face, clearly off the back of a lorry but it keeps me dry so I'm not complaining). I've got snacks aplenty for the journey, a fully charged camera battery and a definite readiness for some adventure following a week of rain stopping play. Watch this space...
