Happy Royal wedding!
I'm watching the nuptuals in Taganga, Colombia - it's 5a.m. here so I'm wearing my PJs with a plastic crown in honour of the event. I've found 2 other English people and we're hunkered down in front of a huge TV watching BBC World News; cheering at the vows, attempting to sing along with the hymns (I love 'Jerusalem') and crying during Kate's procession up the aisle.
Mum, Piglet and Adrian are headed to London so will get to experience Wedding Fever first-hand! I'm really jealous - London looks great! Everyone lining the streets, waving Union Jacks and cheering as the wedding cars go past.. this will be one fantastic party. Hope everyone is celebrating in style, you all have time off work so make the most of it!
I have a few days before my flight to Lima, so I've headed back up the coast to hippie-ish beach village Taganga. My last night in Cartagena was marked by the big weekly party at the Media Luna (my hostel) - feeling like naughty schoolchildren my room-mates (the lovely Grace and John) and I snuck off to the square around the corner to drink our contraband rum before heading up to the terrace to kick off our shoes and salsa with the locals. I went to Playa Blanca (a gorgeous beach with white sand and crystal clear water) for my last day; yes, another boat! About 10 of us from the hostel spent the day having massages on the beach, eating arrepas and fresh fish and larking about in the sea.
Arriving in Taganga I headed to Casa de Felipe for dinner and bumped into Tim, Beatrice and Ben who I'd met in Cartagena. The backpacker scene is really good in Colombia, I seem to know people everywhere I go which is lovely. A few rums and aqualiente's later and discussions of a fishing trip (more boats?!) drove me to my bed. More rum-drinking later methinks.
I'm going back to bed for a little snooze before hitting the beach. God save the Queen.
