Hi Guys!
I made it to Melbourne! So sad to leave Cairns and now its even more depressing. Melbourne is freezing. Im wearing jeans, a t shirt, a long sleaved top and a jumper...oh and a scarf!!! It was 30 degrees or so in the tropics and its like being in the UK here...great!! Ah well hopefully it wont last long. Melbonites like to say that Melbourne has a four seasons in one day..one minute its hot the next its cold. As soon as i got off the plane it was raining...bbrrr!! haha! Its like flying from Greece in the summer back to London...actually driving into Melbs reminded me a bit of London. A few people say its a very English type city, by Aussie standards anyway.
I went out on the Vagabond for one last trip on Saturday. Paul/Skipper said I could come along as a guest. I didnt have to pay for a thing...bless him. It was wonderful. I did four dives which were fab. I hired a digital camera (dont worry I didnt break this one..phew..imagine that bill!!!!) and got some great photos of the reef. I went snorkeling all the time I wasnt diving and had a great time with one particular turtle. Oh he was lovely. It was asleep on the sea floor, next to a stingray ha. I hovered near it for ages and then it woke up and I just swam next to it for about half an hour. It was great and it didnt mind me being there at all. I got some fantastic photos and videos of it. So glad I hired a camera after that. hadnt seen a turtle in ages either so that was really nice. Said my goodbyes to Lisa, my dive instructor and to Paul and Peta. They have been so good to me and I will miss them a lot, plus they gave me an awesome job. Now I feel nothing will be as good as the time I had there. Ah the stories I have to tell will keep me amused for a long time.
So Melbourne...dont really have any specific plans as usual. Will prob hang here for a week and look around see what its like. I will see how the fruit picking looks in Victoria, phone up a few places and see. If not then I will work here, get a bar job with some nice hot Aussie guys and then go to Sydney for crimbo. Sounds pretty good still dont ya think?!
Fingers crossed the weather improves. My toes are numb and I think frostbite is soon approaching. An English guy said to me...'dont worry those English bones will soon get used to this temp again'..oh but i didnt want to be cold in Australia...sucks!
lots of love da xxxx
