On our last day we went on a river trip to the Mekong Delta. We went via boat for the day on the Saigon river express. It was a fantastic day. We travelled thousands of kms of rivers and canals linking up a vast network of people and industry. In just 130 km we saw such a huge contrast between rich and poor. Sophie: I enjoyed drinking out of a coconut as I had never done that before and it tasted nice. Ho chi min city was a big city with lots of people tooting their horns and lots of motorbikes everywhere. Some streets were a bit stinky!

We spent a day visiting the Cu Chi tunnels in Ben Dinh. These tunnels were built over a 25 year period starting in the late 1940's and ended up covering 420 sq km. The Vietnamese used these tunnels to hide in the American war. The tunnels were difficult to detect.
