Shanghai, Mez and me!!!
very quick note, as i'm using free internet at a tourist information, but had a blast in shanghai. Met up with Meredith obviously, and she is the same as she was, loud, rude and you gotta love her.
Did all the normal tourist things here, Shanghai musuem on the first day and then celebrated Chinese New Year at our hostel and met lots of nice people, two of which were in Xi'an with me and on the same terracotta warriors tours which was odd but cool. Turns out they were really nice people and spent the night drinking with them, and watching the fireworks from the roof top in the snow.
Went to the Yu gardens the next day, although it was not the right day for it, as it was chucking it down.
Went up the Pearl tower the next night, which was defo worth the 100yuan, however the tunnel to get there which costs us 40yuan was a complete waste of money.
Went to the 1st communist party location in the French Concession the next day with Mez, Domesh, Chrissy and Carmen, which you have to view through rose coloured specs, however was enlightening on their point of view.
day before we left for Vietnam I had to look for a printer, which was impossible as everything was shut for the new year still, and whilst I was out, going round the corner from the hostel, I looked briefly in a bakery window to see my reflection and a man crouching behind me with his hand reaching for my pocket. My reaction . . . to swing round and hit him, and run. Luckily he didn't get anything but my lesson was still learnt. Got myself a new bag that day which is much safer. Although still didn't manage to get anything printed, which was vital for my entry into Vietnam.
Went to the temple of god, and a bit of shopping, then headed to the airport the next day. Got to go back on the Maglev, which is a fast train to the airport, and can go upto 430 kmph - very fast. Arriving at the aiport, and to the hotel in a last bid of printing. NO PROBLEMS!!! thank god, which allows me entry to the next country, however once at the termal discovered we were in the wrong place, and the airport we acctually wanted was the other side of town. It was now less than 2 hours till our flight and was never going to make. A nice man, thank him, changed our flight and put Mez and I on the next one.
So now in Vietnam, and loving it -although we forgot about the time difference, muppets!!!!
i'll update from here once i've done stuff, and since using public computers now, i'm unsure about when and where i'll beable to upload photos but I'll try my best in due course.
Hope all is well for who ever is reading this.
