Bangkok, Thailand
Heyheyyy,
So I've finally arrived in Bangkok, after spending nearly a whole day on the airplane(s). I nearly didn't make it though as I was taken into a room & searched for drugs as they thought I had some in my carry on. It all just turned out to be some Earth I was given to sprinkle in my new house; it's been blessed for good luck! Random though? The police men people didn't seem to understand why I needed to take it with me, which was generally amusing.
In fairness the first flight was quite fun, although they made us walk straight through the first class area just to see how amazing it was but knowing we could never have that. It was actually slightly depressing. It was good to finally see everyone again though. Although we've all been thrown together just for being Thai volunteers, we're already quite a close country group & they're all really lovely people.It felt nice to not have to leave all alone. Our seats were good & comfy though; we all got our own personal tv's with the coolest films on them, etc. With a gadget to text other chairs that I just never quite understood...
The second flight from India to Thailand was actually just killer. I was so bored & just wanted to be there at this point, but I was also missing home quite a lot & just wanted to turn around & go back, Hiwever, mama shall be proud, I managed to keep my tetnus safe & cold the entire time. Which means I'll be able to get it done still when I arrive... lucky me.
I've literally just got off the plane, dumped my stuff in our hotel room, wolfed dinner & found an internet place... I needed to tell everyone I'd made it, right? But here are my first impressions of Bangkok;
- it's so busy. Like, literally I've never seen so many people all milling around as if they know where to go. They smile though.
- it smells different. India smelt quite odd & sticky; Thailand smells quite warm but not spicy, more of a stuffish smell. I don't know if I like it yet. Speaking of India though, I was scared there! They tried to take my gorilla Valery off of me because they thought he wasn't allowed in or something, it was really a depressing moment. They had to call in the boss or something to check him over & she was just like 'if he wasn't such a cute bear, I'd say no'. He's a gorilla, but I didn't want to push my luck my correcting her... I still don't understand the issue though!
- it's not home. Sad, but true, I miss London already.
I guess that's literally all I can say for now as I have to go back to unpack. Kind of aprehensive about tomorrow, but I'm not really sure why. We've already been told my Lucie & Peter (our country reps) that we're allowed to just exist until dinner time really. They've recommended going to see a film or shopping at the local mall, but I really kind of just want to sleep. I am knackeredddd.
