Exploring Gili T
Needless to say, we didn't have the earliest start…..Tucked into a top notch banana pancake served up by the boys running our shacks. Probably best not to do a health and safety inspection of the cooking facilities….Dragged ourselves downtown to check out dive schools, mingle with backpackers in the internet café and comment on the searing heat.
Booked in for some diving activities for following day and headed back to Warna, where the lads sorted us out with some bikes to explore the island. We pedaled gingerly along the sand path to the northern tip of the islands. The bungalows became more scarce, but looked a little more chic and remote. We came across a couple of cafes on the beach with little cabanas on stilts right on the sand, A little further on we were reduced to wheeling our bikes through the sand until we reached our final destination - Alum Gili. Installed ourselves in a cabana and necked a cold Bintang whilst waiting for lunch. After lunch we snoozed in the cabana for an hour before the long ride home.
Had a dip in the sea to cool down and bumped into Brecha amd Igor. They had sneakily upgraded to the Horizontal Rooms and invited us round to have dinner and watch a DVD.
Turned up at 630, as invited, with a couple of bottles (of water). Their chic new digs was quite impressive, especially the sunken seating area. Drinks and food was brought up by the bar. Nice room service. A round of cocktails later we ordered food and settled in the watch Valkyrie. The picture kept wobbling and it had quite clearly been filmed in a cinema. The subtitle translation was laughable so we gave up and tried Michael Clayton. The quality of copying was better but the dvd froze in the crucial final minutes.Had to pinch ourselves that we were not round a friend's house in London watching a film but instead on some remote island.
