Hi everyone. We had a whirlwind visit to Hong Kong - arriving in the afternoon, and heading to Kowloon, where we stayed in the infamous 'Mansions' complex in Tsim Sha Tsui - our guidebook described it as a 'squalid fleapit' - but said every traveller worth their salt has to experience it. It actually wasn't too bad - we have stayed in much worse - and the price was right!
We went to the Temple Street Night Market - overflowing with fake watches, handbags, sunglasses and other odds and ends... The next day we took the ferry over to Hong Kong Island and ascended to the Peak on the little cable car and got some amazing views of the islands. Had some instensive Christmas shopping, but didn't end up buying much. We watched the 'Symphony of Lights' over Victoria Harbour, which is an amazing disply of lights, set to music - all of the skyscrapers are decorated - it was quite amazing to watch. We then went and had a huge dinner at a local restaurant, then I dragged Dean to 'Santa Town' - my first taste of Christmas spirit - as this is the first countrty we've been in that celebrates christmas - so that was exciting for me - I even got a photo with Santa!
We flew to Bangkok this morning - and this is now 5 hours we've been stuck here waiting for our flight to Koh Samui... it has been delayed so I'm taking advantage of the free internet.
Only 10 more days till we get home - Cant wait!
See you all soon!!
