Nadeane & Dean's Trip
Hi everyone, its been a while since our last postcard due to the amount of camping and lack of internet facilities where we have been, so ill try and update you on what weve been up to since our last entry. After my birthday we headed to the Argentine side of Iguazu falls, the widest waterfalls in the world. They were amazing. We got to get in a speed boat and speed towards the falls, actually going under them and getting totally wet. It was awesome. the rest of the day, we walked through the national park and got a look at devils throat, where the falls all meet. After that, we headed for Brazil. From there we went to the Brazil side of the falls, where we got a great view of the whole falls. The cost of everything pretty much tripled as soon as we got over the border, unfortunately. Damn those brazilians and their good economy.... bring back bolivia!! Seriously though, Brazil is beautiful. Some of our group took a taxi to Paraguay as it was only a few kms from our campsite, apparentlçy they have sheap electronic equipment, but we couldnt be bothered going.Lazy! From Foz de Iguazu, we headed to Bonito, a little town, which in Spanish means Beautiful. Here we went snorkelling in the Rio de Prata, one of the clearest rivers in the world. The amount of fish was amazing. The next day we went on a hike through a farm which had beautiful waterfalls, and went swimming uder the falls, and dean did a few jumps pff a 6m platform into the water. From Bonito we headed to the Pantanal, which is the worlds largest wetland and is said to have the highest concentration of wildlife per square kiulometre than anywhere in the world. I would say it has more mosquitos than anywhere in the world!!! We went on a walk through waist deep water seeking out anacondas and jaguars, but didnt see any - thank god!!!! Dean also went horseriding through the wetlands... We also went piranha fishing. Some of our group caught a bunch of them. We didnt though. Dean went swimming in the piranha infested water though. The guide insisted it was okay as long as you didnt have any open cuts, but I was covered in mossie bites so didnt want to risk it. We have just come back from the Pantanal today and are spending the night in Campo Grande, before two loooong drive days toParati about two hours from Rio de Janiero. Aparently Parati has 65 islands and over three hundred beaches and we are going on a schooner cruise around them. Cant wait. Then its on the Carnaval... I cant belive time has gone by so quickly. its almost been two months that weve been away!! So I think our next entry will be from Paraty, hopefully we can upload photos then as this stupid computer wont let me. The photos we have now are so good... cant wait to show you all.....
