Hey everyone
Today we went to Queenstown.
We were up and out early to make sure we got good seats on the coach to Queenstown, and to make sure we were actually booked on the coach. We took our bags to the coach and found the very grumpy driver (Domonionic). Fortunately we were booked on, and fortunately we only had to put up with the driver for one short journey.
When we were on the coach we asked the driver if he could book our trip to Milford Sound, but we were just met by some grumpy response about how we should have got our last driver to book it and to ask later. Our first stop was Puzzling World, a very very small 'world' consisting of a few crazy illusion rooms and a big maze. Its very hard to explain the odd illusion rooms but they were fun and we had a good yet frustrating time getting lost in the maze.
After lunch we headed through the Kawarau Gorge to our next stop, the Kawarau bridge, home to the world's first commercial bungy jump site. We got off here and went on the 'Secrets of Bungy' Tour. First we watched The History of Bungy and learnt about the crazy A.J. Hackett, who liked to jump of everything, including the Effiel Tower, whilst tied to elastic. He managed to get a two month license which enabled him to charge people to jump of the bridge and it became a huge success - now that sight does 200 jumps a day. We watched a couple of crazy people jump off the bridge and although it was starting to get a little more appealing, the price at just under 200 dollars was enough to put you off if you weren't really keen.
We then headed on the Queenstown and were dropped of outside our accommodation. Our room was nice enough and had a lovely view of the lake and the snow topped mountain range called 'The Remarkables'. Our first stop, as often in new places, was the supermarket. It turned out to be quite a walk from our hostel and as it was cold, dark and raining it wasn't a fun trip. After dinner we made good use of the warm lounge with videos and dvds, as we soon learnt that the tiny heater we had in our dorm did little to warm up the huge room. That night we slept with our hoodies on and had a suspicion that we would have to wear them every night here. Xxx
