Hey everyone
Today we walked to the centre of New Zealand!
We woke up late with achey legs after our trek yesterday and had a much needed huge breakfast, complete with pancakes made brilliantly by Alex (Christina's words). It was definitely a talent, with a frying pan which non-stick coating had been complete scratched off and with no oil and very little butter, but it was a success.
We had long hot showers to sooth our aching muscles, and though Christina was still amazed at her huge calves, all the walking seemed to damage Alex's legs, as his knee was especially achey.
As Nelson is the geographic centre of New Zealand, we couldn't resist going to stand on the spot known as the very centre of New Zealand. Unsurprisingly for this country it was on the top of a mountain. We hobbled up the mountain on a very steep path but it only took us 15 minutes and we had amazing views of the town, harbour and the national parks and mountain ranges that surround Nelson. After admiring the views and taking a few photos we headed down, though Alex's knee seemed even worse than on the way up.
We walked through the park and found a beautiful little chinese garden. The garden had ponds, oriental plants and trees and a little building with chinese style decoration on the roof. It was a lovely place to rest our legs. We then headed to the chemist to buy Alex a knee support, hoping his leg would feel a little better.
We then hobbled around the supermarket, bought some tea and went back to the hostel with Alex was under strict instruction to rest his poorly leg. Xxx
