We had a long 8hour trip from Frankfurt to Toronto as there was no entertainment system working in the plane. Matt and Bex had a grumpy man sitting behind them who wouldnt let them put their seats back, even after the air hostess had told him to. When we landed in Toronto it was a bit bumpy and everyone clapped! We hadnt thought it was that bad. We changed planes here and carried on for 5 hours to Vancouver.
In Vancouver we took a limo to our hotel, (Rosedale on Robson), which the kids loved, they were straight to the pool. Sue had developed a rash on the flight that was red and itchy so she walked down to the drugmart and got some antihistimines althought they didnt help and she hardly slept at all. The next morning Matt had woken early and been down on the treadmill before we woke up. The kids then went for another swim while Sue walked back down to the chemist, who told her to go to the doctor. By the time she had walked back to the hotel she was incredibly uncomfortable and the rash was getting worse, It looked disgusting!! When Sue eventually got to see the doctor he announced that she had hives, an allergic reaction to something she had eaten, drunk or touched.
After a prednisone we went on the hop on hop off bus to Stanley park and finally Matt and Bex got their wish and we played chip and putt. We had Macds for tea and the girls covered Sue in calamine lotion and went for another swim.
We repeated the calamine and swim ritual in the morning then packed our bags and left them in the foyer while we got back on the bus and went to Gastown for some shopping then carried on to Stanley Park to the aquarium to see the new baby Beluga whales, sharks, stingrays, snakes, otters and a dolphin. By the time we got back to the hotel the limo was already there and out bags were loaded so we changed when we got to the airport. Here Bex found out that she had lost her pen that Grandma had given her so she was a bit sad. We jumped on the plane for our 14 hour flight to Auckland.
Arrived back in Invercargill airport to Nana, Grandad, Cindy, Blake, Bella and Meg!
