We had a 1 and half hour flight from Heathrow to Frankfurt on air Lufhansa, this was a very confusing airport and even more confusing trains!! We were offered a ride with a local on his group pass so followed rather tentatively. 3 stops and 15mins later we arrived at Frankfurt am main. There was a short walk to our hotel where we had to wait for a room as they had us on different floors. After a walk which we failed to find the river, and our first german sausage for tea in the underground area we went to bed ready to meet Jackie the next day. Luckily Rebecca woke us at 10.10am! After a bit of a panic Bex and I went across to meet Jackie at the train and then met the others for breakfast. After that we did a hop on hop off bus tour, got off in the main shopping area and the kids got airbrush tatoos. Kids had a lot of swims in the hotel pool on the top floor. We went down to the festival on the river bank and spent the afternoon there, had lots of fun, a couple of drinks, rides and more sausage then some drinks back at the hotel.
The next day we went with Jackie down to her host family in Reinheim which was 40 mins by train. Jackies family were very welcoming, Andreus(Dad), Dany(mum), Lara(sister) and Moritz(brother) and the dog(tom). We had a lovely bbq lunch followed by a drive to a quaint wee town that almost felt Austrian, climbed up to a castle that you could backpack at and then went back to the house for cake. we spent an hour at the house on the computer while Jackie packed for Spain then we walked back down to the train to head back to Frankfurt where we got tea at the station with a bit of mucked up sign language! There were armed police all over the place but we didnt see any trouble.
Woke early the next morning to head off back to the airport, once again the train ticket machines were a bit confusing, and carry on our travels to Vancouver.
