Hongkong, China - Shoppers Paradise...
I do believe dreams can come true, because it happens to all of us. Since childhood, I always dreamed of Disneyland. Being a Disney Channel addict when I was a child, I promised myself that one day I will see Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and the others... I came from the Philippines and the nearest Disneyland is Hongkong.
Early September 2010 I started working in an engineering consultancy firm in Makati. There I met a new set of friends, some from my previous company. We worked along together, dined out together and the likes. When Ate Jeanny came across a seat sale in Cebu Pacific, she booked 3 of us to Hongkong flight. We made earlier preparations for the much awaited first international tour for all of us. Ate Jeanny booked our flights and the hostel that we will stay. Nef and I searched for all the things that we need to do in HK and Macau.
Then the big day came... August 24, 2011, all 6 of us we're excited. We leaved Manila at around 8am and reached HK at pass 10am. There was a long queue in the immigration. It took us 1.5 hours in the immigration. We took the bus going to Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) where our guesthouse is located. We reached the Hostel at around pass 12pm, we unloaded our bags and run towards the ferry terminal to go to Macau. It was an hour ferry ride from HK Ferry Terminal to Macau. We bought bigmac at Mcdonalds for our lunch and ate it inside the ferry boat.
In Macau, we went to The Ruins of Sao Paulo Cathedral. We tried the famous Portugese egg tart and the beef jerkys (Free taste). We bought Starbucks Tumbler for my collections. We then proceed to Lisboa Casino. We didn't play any game we just watched othe people play. The money in Macau is called Pataca but HK Dollars are all accepted. The bus only accepts Pataca coins. We went back to the ferry terminal to avail the free bus ride to Venetian Macao. At 10pm we headed back to HK to rest.
The Itinerary that we did has full of activities for the 3 days tour. On our second day, only 4 of us continued with the tour. We when to The Peak. We rode the Peak Tram - a funicular railways and it offers a fantastic view of HK. We proceed to the Peak Tower to witness a grandest view of Hongkong. The Peak Tower also houses the Madam Tussads Wax Musuem. We were all in awe with all the wax figures that we saw including Jackie Chan, Yao Ming, David Becham and alot more.
We continued our tour to see the Hongkong Ocean Park. There are lots of tourist and I didn't personally enjoyed all of it. The Ocean Aquarium was jammed pack of other tourist. We fall line for almost 2hrs and it was so hot, but we only stayed in the aquarium for almost half an hour. We went to see the Panda (its one of my bucket list). We rode the Ocean Express Train to reached the peak of the Ocean Park, then we took the cable car to get down. At around 6pm we headed back to TST area to witness the Sympony of lights. We also went to the night market to buy souvenirs.
3rd day- We went to Ngong Ping 360 on Lantau Island. We rode the famous Ngong Ping Cable Car for 20 mins. Then we spoiled ourselves with a little shopping in Citigate mall. After lunch we proceed to Disneyland to relive our childhood again.
We were so tired of this HK-Macau tour, we were always running to reached our destinations. But we enjoyed it so much... The food was okay, people are not so polite, they are always in a hurry. NOt all can speak english. Transportation was awesome. Roughly expensive but still we managed to survived.
So for anyone out there who wants to go to HK, please do so and you will surely enjoy it.
Until the next adventures...
