Sally and Tony not feeling any effects from the street food were the first to surface.
The managed to get to see Fuxing Park and photo bombed as many tourist shots as they could before finding the lifesaving elixir everyone was craving… COFFEE!
On their return Miranda and Debs headed off for an ill-fated trip to get a pedicure. Mission failed so Debs had to settle for minor surgery on her blistered feet by doctor Miranda.
Neal showed up and we headed off for some touristy sights and markets. After a lovely walk through traditional garden where everyone got lost we ducked into some side streets that got smaller and smaller until we found a street food market and ate like locals. Cheap and semi tasteless. We then discovered some street smells that were new to us but left a permanent impression on our burnt nostrils.
Then it was off to the suburbs for a 2 hour foot and body massage. It took 3 hours for the smile to come off Tony's face. Suitably softened we were taken to a Chinese hotpot. Lots of foods that you cook yourself in boiling broth. The tastes just kept coming until we all yelled enough and proceeded to argue over the bill. Luckily Julia was there and sorted it all out.
Off to the Bund to see the lights and night and be rejected at the best bars for looking like slobs. It was fine by us as no one wants to drink with snobby French so we hit a gay bar instead. Interestingly enough our attire was good enough for there.
Then it was farewell to Neal and home to pack before the big airport taxi ride the next day. Will we survive….
