We are safely resting at our motel in Joplin, Missouri. We had another rainy day, but again met nice people. We left Springfield in a drizzle. Yesterday's blog seems lost. Maybe you will read this one. We are in Lebanon, Missouri. The town has historic motels. We are visiting an excellent museum in the public library. The photo is a diorama of a Texaco station in town in the 1920s. Today we have had rain. Thankfully Route 66 has NO traffic; it is a two-lane rural road. Love and peace to all. Hank

Arrived safely in Springfield, Missouri, for the night. Rain, rain, rain. Streams are flooded. We are eating at a local brewery, hence the wooden Indian in the picture. Wish for us good food. Hank

We are off and exploring Route 66 in Missouri. About 30 miles west of St Louis we visited Route 66 State Park. It has an excellent small museum which prepared us well for the trip. Sixteen miles further we came to Shaw Nature Reserve, a 2500 acre oasis. The wild flowers are in bloom, the turtles are sunning themselves on the logs, the sun is shining. God has a beautiful world. We expected ghost towns; we found thriving small towns with very friendly people. ...

We have safely arrived in St Louis after a smooth, on-time flight from LaGuardia. The sky is blue but the temp is only 46. It is expected to warm up the next few days. Hank was on a high in New York; it must have been the air in Joe's car. No matter. He is approaching mellow now. We wii relax, get some food, and maybe visit the flooding Mississippi River.
