Lucille (see picture) had a famous rest stop on Route 66 in OK. She died in 2000, and a new roadhouse opened in her honor. It is made out like a 50s diner, and the people are friendly and the food good.
Last night we stayed in Elk City after another enjoyable day. It was cold and rainy in the morning then cleared up nicely. Although the temperature dropped into the 30s!
Today warmed up nicely. We visited a good Route 66 Museum. We then went to Was***a Battlefield National Historic Site, an event from the Indian Wars of 1868. A very complex history. It is an excellent park.
And now we are returning east. We want to visit OK City, Springfield MO, and St Louis. So we never reached Amarillo, let alone Albuquerque. But we are having a wonderful adventure. We have lots of stories to tell and pictures to show.
We plan to be in OK City for the weekend.
Love and prayers,
Hank and Marilyn
