Two more days and closing fast!! We are so eager to get this journey started.

The idea of traveling Historic US Route 66 began last Spring. On a trip to Florida we stopped at a Cracker Barrel store and saw a video of episodes of the old TV series Route 66. While we have yet to watch the video (the episodes were NOT filmed along Route 66), the idea of traveling along Route 66 began to develop. Numerous Web searches led to this vacation.

We leave on Wednesday, April 24, and fly to St Louis, Missouri. There we will pick up a rental car and head west on Route 66, avoiding the expressways as much as possible. We are eager to explore the back roads and small towns that dotted the historic road. We plan to meet people and learn the stories that are part of American history. Our return is planned for May 15, flying home from St Louis.
