Jumped on the bus in the morn with Adrian who was also going to Ho Chi Minh City. We eventually turned up and we found the hostel. Was a real odd one, but probs one of my favourites. It wasn't even marked as having any accommodation at all, and if I didn't find it on hostel world I wouldn't have had a clue it was there. It was called Rou hostel, but the signage said Rou vegetarian restaurant. Was really posh inside. We were taken upstairs to the dorm. The building had a really industrial feel, with cold concrete walls, but decorated and permeated throughout with really nice fittings and cool furniture.
Me and Adrian had a small explore HCMC later on (aka Saigon). There were lots of people keepy ups with a shuttle c*** type thing in a small badminton style court, mad scenes! Went to find the night market, but was rubbish. Had a cheap beer on the night. Seen a dude from tubing from Laos, he was trying to flog his motorbike after doing the Hanoi to Saigon trail.

Went on a tour to the Cu Chi tunnels from the Vietnam war. Cost $5 there and back, but not the entrance fee. On the coach I sat next to some dude who had just secured a grad job with PWC, was an interesting guy. The day was really good. First we were taking to a random spot in the jungle, the geezer brushed the leaves away with his feet and there was a tiny little hatch in the floor, he lifted the lid off and it was a tunnel. I was picked to demonstrate going in, so I sat on the lit and slowly lowered myself in, having my arms above my head to slide in it was that small and narrow. Wish I got a photo of my head popping out lol, but with around 20 people watching and me first to go I felt a tit saying can you take a photo.
Next up we were shown the booby traps. Some of these were mad and it would have been a real sticky way to go. All involved dying by being impaled by something sharp.
Next was a really long tunnel, at around 100m long. It was really small and hot, and walking through it was constantly bent down. It was such a work out on the thighs it was torture. It just went on and on and on, at times in the pitch black dark. At one point it got so small in the middle you had to do down on hands and knees to get through it, and it went downhill to. This was a safety device used by the Vietnamese. On and on it went but we eventually came to the end, and we were all sweating. It was a claustrophobes worst nightmare.

Spent the day exploring the remains of the city. Went to a nice Cathedral, but that was about it. Had dinner on the night with a French called Vanilla and a Canadian lass of Chinese decent called Audrey just outside the hostel. Vanilla paid for my food as I had no money left due to leaving the next day, she was so canny!
