Woke up early to catch my boat to the island of Koh Rong. It was $15 for an open return via speedboat. After a few beers last night, bouncing up and down on the back of a speedboat in the hot sun wasn't ideal, but it wasn't too bad. I arrived off the jetty onto the beach. There are no roads on the island, and the only way to get around is via walking round the beaches, or through little tracks. I found a really nice spot right on the sea front, private room, double bed for only $5, right outside Sigi's!!! A thai dude who has cult status on the island, who had a little stall where he sells the best food on the island for $2. There was some other awesome little places for $1 too.
The hotel only had 4 rooms, and a nice little balcony, where I met Olie, a 24yr old from London. Was a really canny lad and ironically supported Newcastle. I went to the beach, gorgeous idyllic white sand beaches and turquoise sea, all with nice little bunglows behind me on the land. I went into the lovely hot water looked around out to the ocean and around the beach, and honestly just started laughing my head off!!! A paradise island and it was all my for nothing.
I went back and me and Olie took a dodge to long beach, an extremely long long beach (hence the name) on the other side of the island, which was only reachable by walking 45 mins through the jungle, at one part down a really sharp decent where you pretty much have to abseil down it. Had a good craic on with Olie and I found out he'd been to North Korea, something I've had on my bucket list for a while! Couldn't believe I'd met someone who'd been. Its actually ridiculously easy to go, you pay your money to a tour, they do everything for you. All you gotta do is turn up. Told me how he went to a water park in North Korea, so mad lol. He'd also spent two months in China which was really cool, and says he wants to travel 2 years plus, just working along the way etc. We eventually rocked up, and it was so worth it! This beach was even nicer than the main one. The sand was the whitest of whites. We had a swim about and chilled on the beach talking about travel stories and what not, before making the climb all the way back.
On the night I had a wonder, and its really chilled out, full of comfy chairs on the beach where every sits and drinks etc. this literally was paradise.

Looked out from the balcony in the morning and there sitting in Sigi's was Sam lol. I went down and had a craic on with him and this fat English dude from Derby called Peachy, Olie soon joined us and we had an hilarious line up and the banter was superb. After we took a dodge to 4km beach, again having to walk on a little track to reach it. There was an hilarious moment when Sam when to help a local dude trying to move him boat which was stuck on the sand, and when he kept trying to move it more and more water kept on burying it. We refused to help and just kept on laughing. We came to a little hut on the beach and chilled and had a drink, and had a good craic about footy. Felt a bit sorry for Sam as being a kiwi he couldn't really chip in, and we were talking for ages lol, so he just sat there. We mooched back, and I had a nap. We all went for a drink on the night on the beach.

The next Peachy had to leave as he was on a tight schedule, but me and Olie ran into Sam getting some skran, and after went on a beach crawl lol. Basically walking around the island trying to find as many beaches as we can and having a swim in each one lol. Was a really nice day and was really chilled. We talked about travelling bucket lists.
Olie showed me his North Korean money on the night time lol!

Olie left. I chilled all day, Sam rocked up asking if I wanted to come for a few beers with his pals on the beach, and go to the pub quiz. We eventually found his mates in one of the private beach huts 2 germans, 1 dutch and two Americans. We drank some beers and went to the pub quiz. The quiz was ridiculous, just some ridiculous questions you would never ever know the answer too. One of them was which animal kills more people than plane crashes, which obviously there are numerous animals. The answer however was donkies :S

Me and Sam went to long beach the next day, he hadn't been with him, so I decided to go with him. The weather wasn't as nice, and was really cloudy and the sea wasn't as clear. the waves were much bigger though, and it made for a nice change. At one point it quickly changed and there was a strong rip out of know where, which sucked in water as the waves came. It wasn't as sketchy as say that time in Sri Lanka, but I decided to head back in, this time having the option to dig my feet into the sand floor which made it easier. We mooched back.

Got boat back to the mainland, this time in a much bigger speedboat, and much calmer. Boat a bus ticket, ran into the two Americans from the pub quiz. Got some food with them. Hoyed it down like I've never seen. Caught my sleeper bus, this time it had a shared bed. Was praying for some fit lass, instead was next to some South American dude.
