After dropping off our giant backpacks at the Capsule Inn, we walked down to the Musical Instrument District in Akihabara, having just found out that Johnny got into Swinburne Uni neither of us could wipe the grins off our faces - I am so very proud of him! We went into about a billion guitar stores, sent him to a little Johnny-heaven. In one place he found some slidy-type guitar that is apparently quite rare (and played by Sir Butler) so he wet his pants over that one and sat playing it for a good half an hour lol. I find it quite unusual, thought wonderfully convenient, how many Tokyo is full of designated "areas" - Second Hand Book area, Musical Instrument Area and Sporting Goods Area, to names a few! Ate lunch they served us complimentary soymilk shots, which were D.I.S.G.U.S.T.I.N.G., so of course we both dared eachother to down them. eurgh!!! Mum - they tasted like a liquid form of those yucky fermented soybeans that we thought were edamame - "Natto".
We spent most of the day at takes***a-Dori, which is probably the coolest street on earth! Jampacked with quirky clothes and even quirkier people. I find the outrageous dress-sense of Tokyo youth so completely inspirational - they wear what they want, how they want, when they want. I would love to have the confidence to do that... Ate dinner in some obscure Nepalese Restaurant in the ever-busy Shibuya. Was actually a really delicious meal - can't wait for Nepal now!!!
