Sorry this took me so long to write, I have been up to so many things over these past few days that it has been crazy! This has been the one time that time has been allocated to actually chilling. Currently sitting in Cusco which is actually a very nice city to visit! A lot of things have gone on over the past few days and it is only day 17! My trip started in Bolivia in the capital city La Paz, this is is buzzing city full of life and lots of people. The atmosphere and the altitude didn´t really affect me that much and I felt like I was still in England. Hostal Sucre was our first hostal and hot water was hard to come by! on our orientation day we visted Takamani which was an ancient ruin site. this was sooo much fun and the tour guide tha took us on the trip was very informative. Next up came the Espacio Project and this involved going to El Alto and going into the slums of the Ludoteca. There where so many intersting people there and to top it of, instead of just helping childeren we even erected a wall for them! The last day was the most interesting because we went into the main market and just experienced it on a bigger scale! It was worth it to see the childeren´s smiles! Next up came the daunting El Choro Trek! This was the 4 day killer which physically could destroy you! Thanfully it didn´´t and I survived just after 3 nights of camping. It didnt go without it´s upsets however as a member of the team sprained their ankle and they nearly couldn´t complete it! At the end we deserved a nice rest so we went to Corico in order to rest and enjoy ourselves! This was good because it meant we could not only wash ourselves but our clothing to! Next up we had to cross the border into the country of Peru! I had a lot of trouble getting into Peru as the people n Miami airport did not give me a stamp saying that i had entered Bolivia. In the end however it was sorted and I could relax as the bus tokje us to Puno. Puno is a pretty boring town, and there is nothing really there, its only purpose is to catch a boat to th floating reed island and to the Uros islands. in order to get to the floating island we took a reed boat, this was so very cool! On the first island we saw how the islands actually floated and got to have many demenstrations of what their life was like. the trip to Armantani was painful and slow as it took in excess of 4 hours! eventually we got there however and we got paired up with an actual family in which we would be spending the day with!
Lucia was my "mummy" for the day and as we enetered into the house the height difference was obviously there! Lunch service was very tasty! Soup, and lots of starch! Next up came some more walking
but this was some good quality walking veause we got to see Pachamama and Pachdada, the Mountains of the Gods! Pachamama is sacred because if you walk around it 3 times you get to make 3 wishes for someone else´s health, job and love! Upon getting dark we retrned to the house and was survived dinner. This was also very tasty! Rice and what appeared to be curry was on the menu tonight and my taste buds where tingling. To top the evening off we had a massive disco! We where quite literally the centre of the party quite literally setting the whole place a light! SLEEP! Going to Taquila was good as we did some more walking on this island you had to pay 1 soles per photograph of the peoplke so you had to be careful what you took! Paddling in Lake Titcaca just topped off the trip of the highest navigable lake! An over night bus was in order to get to where I am now! Arriving at 4 o´clock this morning was a killer however I still appear to be up now! I have just sent some clothing to be washed and I have washed myself so hopefully I will be nice and fresh for when I enter the Amazin basin!
Blog soon!
