The San Luis Valley in just a little while
Fort Collins, Colorado
I will make the last trip for awhile to the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado in a just a few days. I remember being able to breathe more deeply as I glimpsed the magnificent Sangre De Cristo mountains. Hard to believe I have lived in Colorado only nine years. I'm striving to listen to what the land -- particularly in the Valley -- will want to share. And, I will leave what I can with the mountains.
If you have never been to Crestone, Antonito, Alamosa, Monte Vista, La Jara, Blanca, or any of the small towns in the Valley, I urge you to go. I have lived all of the United States and never experienced the kind of centered-ness I feel there. Cranes migrate there. Aspens look like they are on fire in the Fall. Mountains, lakes and sacred places abound. People say hello and many people passing through eventually stay or come back. I am the latter -- and I have known I could be both since the first day on La Veta pass.
