So we had another busy day today. After the three ish hour drive from lochness to Stirling we toured the Stirling castle. It was amazing you could see it from so far away. We went on a tour of it and then toured around the rest on our own.
It had an amazing recreated tapestry done by 6 people over a 14 year period. They were nice. I guess I'm just not a tapestry fan. The castle itself was amazing. The throne room was huge and had been restored. The chapel was almost as big and had a lot of original paint and they had redone several of the rooms as they would have appeared on the 17th century.
Of course the vistas over the city were amazing too. And the views of the castles defences. After a few hours we left and went to the William Wallace monument. It had closed but a bus driver gave is a tip on a local pub that we went to for supper and it was very good
Finally we went to the site of the battle of bannockburn and its monument. It was quite good and the statue of Robert ghe Bruce was quite impressive.
We got to our b n b late and are happy to be here now. It is quite warm let's hope we can both sleep without problem.
Oh we might change our original plan and dump the car a bit early and take a train all the way from here to London. It will be a little more expensive but quicker and more relaxing.
