Ever since I was a little girl and my parents took my sister and I on a 3-week world wind trip to Europe, I realized I loved to travel. I loved trying new foods, seeing famous — and some not-so-famous sites in person, experiencing everyday life in another language, wandering through foreign supermarkets to see what was available locally, and of course, shopping for local artisan goods.
I have shared this love of travel with my Husband and my 3 sons, and we have traveled together as a family as well as independently. With my husband we have explored the Greek Islands, Israel, Jordan, Eastern and Western Europe, Scandinavia, Croatia, Mexico, and Peru. My sons have backpacked independently for months on end in Europe, Australia, Central and South America, and Southeast Asia. They have also explored many parts of the United States.
Now, we begin a new chapter in our lives as we retire from our professional careers, sell the family home and most of our possessions, and go on the road for the next year. We begin with a several-month stay in Tulum, Mexico where our eldest son and his wife live and are expecting their first child—and our first grandchild, in a few weeks. We expect to be busy with babysitting duty on top of some much-needed Spanish immersion classes. On December 9, 2017 the adventure begins when we depart Mexico on a one-way ticket to Auckland, New Zealand. From there, Australia, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, China, and where ever the road takes us ....
