Iguassu Falls (Brazil)
January 24th
Day 326
Today I was awaken at a ridiculous hour by the sounds of construction, since we couldn't get back to sleep we decided to head over to the Brazil side of Iguassu Falls.
By the time we got to the bus station it was 10am (so we thought). We brought tickets for the 10.20am bus and sat on a bench waiting. Chris went to check the time but every clock he found said 9am. I doubled checked my phone and it said 10am. We were perplexed. What had happened to the time?? We had gained an hour over the last two days but we were not sure when!!
With over an hour to wait we handed back to the hostel. When it was time to leave again the skies had opened and it was raining very heavily. It was not clear how the day would turn out, but it would probably involve us getting wet!
Once on the bus it was nice to see that we were not the only drenched muppets attempting to visit the waterfalls. It took us an hour to get to the falls as we had to get border stamps on both sides.
The weather on the Brazilian side was no better and we waited for an hour at the entrance of the falls before the rained stopped and we paid our entrance.
We got a bus that would drive through the park and got off at the final viewpoint. As usual we did things the wrong way round. Our first glimpse of the falls was very impressive and it only got better. It was a wide roaring mess. You couldn't help but get wet from all the spray. We couldn't believe how many individual waterfalls there were. We continued to make our way along the walkway taking photos as we went along. Once we reached the end we headed back to the entrance of the park and headed back to the Argentinian side.
Overall it was a very good day despite the weather, we got some good panoramic photos of the falls, I got some new stamps for my passport and Chris got some Brazilian Reals for his coin collection.
