Phad Thai Anyone?
Ketchikan, Alaska
So the other day I made the mistake of ordering Phad Thai here in Ketchikan, Alaska and it was quite possibly the worst decision of my entire summer.. And trust me I've made plenty of questionable decisions this summer.. The first of which was deciding to move to Alaska to work at a jewelry store selling, imagine this, jewelry to tourists. Now this might sound like all fun and games, but let me tell you, people who go on cruises think they are living in some alternate, mythical universe where everything revolves around them and that, for some reason, they shouldn't have to pay taxes in Alaska, cause after all it isn't really the United States.. Is it? Anyways, back to my questionable decision making.. While high pressure selling (of let's leave this info out cause this is the Internet and we wouldn't want to spoil a company's reputation or anything) may not be entirely my cup of tea, I did have a fabulous summer up here. For starters, it is way freaking beautiful. I haven't seen anything quite like the natural beauty found in Alaska. Also the people have really made this summer special. People make there way here from all different corners of the world to work the tourism season which gives this little town a sort of grown-up college feeling. I met a rad group of friends this summer and decided today that I am going to Thailand with them for a few weeks.. Did I mention that I bought my ticket tonight and leave next Tuesday?! Nothing like last minute decisions right? But besides the terrible Phad Thai experience of a few days ago, all the other rash decisions have been working in my favor lately. So yes, I am in Alaska today, leaving for Seattle in 5 days, and then heading to Thailand 4 days later with new friends. And yes, we will be on the hunt for the best Phad Thai known to mankind.. I'll keep you posted on what we find along the way :)
