Teva's Travels
So, back in Thailand. After getting a lift to the Boarder from the person who collected our motor bikes and a 12 hour bus ride, we landed in Bangkok at seven in the morning and straight to Burger King for breakfast. Sometimes you just need a little comfort food.
As my friends Dougie and Chris were heading back the U.K., we spend our days shopping and although I have avoided spending too much money until now, I decided to update the old wardrobe, splash out on some (genuine) Ray Bans and replace to old Indian beads and Bracelets with Asian ones. It felt good to spend some money, and since we went to the ENORMOUS weekend market, everything was very cheap. The market was crazy, takes about two hours just to walk from one side to the other, and sells everything from knock-off watches to bags of dried squid and second-hand shoes to pharmaceuticals. you'd be wise to buy a cheap ticket here and do your yearly shopping here, you'd save money and find things you would dream you even needed. Sorry Papa, but I no longer have a reason to visit Detroit anymore (just kidding).
At night the area around Koh San Road explodes with thousands of tourists, drawn by the bright lights and cheap drinks and every free piece of ground is transformed into make shift bars-petrol stations, pavements and ally-ways cater to provide thurst-quenching buckets of Samsong whiskey, red bull and coke, although I would leave out the coke, to hard on the stomach. Every one is your friend and you can find yourself talking rubbish till sunrise. When the Monks start heading out to collect alms, you know its time to go to bed. If you want to get around, crazy Tuk-Tuk drivers will happily take you anywhere, and if you stop for a drink at their friends bar the ride is usually free. If there's enough people, take two and get them to race, more fun then a rollercoaster, and not so far to fall if you crash. I also took keen interest in Rugby, for once Scotland aren't doing so bad.
After saying good bye to my friends I made tracks for Koh pang gan on the vague plan to catch a couple of folk I met in Laos for the full moon party, but since about 12 thousand other people had the same idea, there was no chance of catching them. I did meet some nice people on the boat over and had a fantastic night, but need to relax a bit now so heading to a larger and more luxurious island today. But tomorrow is St. Paddy's day, so the chances of getting an early night are pretty slim.
Bye for now
