I am currently sitting in Hong Kong airport but wanted to finish up my Chinese adventure. Typical me, I've been here a couple of hours already and still have a few to go..one can never be too careful :) the amount if snoozing I've done in the time is a testament to how exciting travelling through China has been and I will miss it a lot!
Yesterday evening I had the most delicious meal ever with Alison on one of the top floors of a building with beautiful views of the city lights and skyline! I left myself in Alison's capable hands when it came to ordering and am therefore also now a sucker for narcissus tea! We had some flat noodley things with cucumber and chicken which was served cold and tossed in a peanutty sauce, lamb and vegetables which you put into little dough clams to eat (so much fun!), noodles in a semi-spicy sauce and little soup dumplings with pork inside. Our pudding was amazing: they brought out warmed bananas covered in a syrupy sauce and lying in sugar and then popped them into icy water infront of us where the outside crystallised..heaven!! Sorry for the description but it had to be done..I won't forget that meal in a hurry and Alison and I had a great night catching up and laughing at my occasional chopstick faux pas! I've now learnt that supposedly if you hold your chopsticks at the top you're supposed to marry a wealthy man..I haven't quite reached that level yet but as you all know I love superstition :)
This airport is so nice and has a whole shopping centre in it before you go through security which is great for me! Even has an iMax but unfortunately there are no shows that fit my timings..I did try though :) it's almost time to check in and then I have my hectic journey to Nepal. I get to Delhi airport at 12pm Indian time (about 2:30am mine) then have to wait 8 hours until my morning flight to Kathmandu..joy! I'm then being picked up 3 hours later by the staff from my volunteering project :) have stocked up my iPod and am ready for some proper time consuming air travel!!
Speak to you in Kathmandu (liking this catchphrase :) )
