ITS CHRISTMASSSSSSSS!!
So. What do British kids do at Christmas 10,000 miles from home and without their families? Make sure Christmas Day is as different as humanly possible!
To begin with, well it wasn't all that different - 11am, massive glass of wine and Santa hat well and truly on! Then after the BBQ warmed up, on went the shrimps. HA. Yesss, I had shrimps on the BBQ. Killing those clichés one by one!
Then time for drinking games, songs and our Secret Santa, just to make sure everyone had at least one present and not just a bank transfer from the parents.. This continued for a while until we decided it was time to live up to the stereotype and hit Bondi with our Santa hats! After a cheeky photo with the lifeguards we took a run into the sea and hit the waves for a bit!
I can honestly say this was probably one of the best Christmas's I've ever had. Mainly because it wasn't like Christmas (apart from the Santa hats and crackers!). Everyone was in the same situation, all away from home and all without tinsel and a turkey. I'm just so glad I had an advent calendar. Otherwise I'd have ended up not being able to eat chocolate legally for breakfast for almost two years! How ridiculous!
Anyway.. Happy Christmas England. Enjoy your snow and veg!
