On a trip like this there are many great days, the Oslo fjord, the historical museum, the glypotek, stockholm archipeligo, but today was something special above them all. Today was all about Campbell heritage and seeing those lands for the first time.
Fortunately we had an excellent tour guide (Karen) who took us west from Edinburgh to Dunne castle past Stirling to Kilchurn and eventually Inveraray.
Karen filled us full of knowledge of Scottish history and knowledge of Scottish whiskey, and if I add up the times I've heard the words wee, laddie and lassie throughout my life, they wouldn't add up to the times they were heard this day.
By absolute accident we bumped into our mate Don from the cruise at a stop on the tour. Don's a great bloke.
There was something incredible about wandering through Inveraray castle, looking at the history and the splendor and knowing my mothers mother was a Campbell and in some small way we are a apart of this. Very hard to put into words but a very special day.
It ended with a pizza on Princes street and a ride on the Edinburgh wheel, which is only up during the festival. What a day.
