What an action packed couple of days we had in Mendoza!! We had lots of fun on the 18 hour bus trip which sounds hard to believe but out beds were fully reclining and so comfortable and we even got a glass of champers at bed time!! we both slept pretty well so arrived ok in mendoza.
Mendoza seems to be the capital of really reasonably priced adventure sports and we had one day of rafting on level 4 rapids from the Andes which was the first time either of us had done it before and Peter was put up the front of the boat with me behind him!! so much fun getting soaked and having big waves crash over you whilst attempting to paddle at the same time!!! Then after lunch we went Canopying which is where you attach yourself to a big cable and swing with a harness along gorges etc. It was so much fun and Kate decided to do the last one over a river hanging upside down!! my neck was fine from all the adventure sports too which i was so happy about.
The next morning we went paragliding which was just incredible.. pretty scary at first when we were each standing at the top of the mountain looking down and strapped in with the huge parachute and ropes all spread out behind us then being told to start running as fast as we could off the edge of the mountain when we could hardly walk!! .. Peter was lucky enough to have a hot air gust and shot up about 10 meters into the air when we ran off the edge!! it was amazing sensation, exactly like dreams of flying with gorgeous views of the mountains and town below and andes in the background.. Kate reckons it is much better than sky diving!! Such a fun and adrenalin filled coupled of days we loved it and Peter is doing pretty well for his fear of heights!!
