We just arrived in Guayaquil on the coast of mainland Ecuador after spending 11 days in Galapagos! It is very humid and warm here and we have made good use of our 50 spf sunscreen. We have had a fantastic first two days in Galapagos - and we've been very busy getting situated with money, water, food, etc.... we have photos but we are leaving in just a few minutes for an 8-day boat trip! So we don't have time to post (with this internet connection) photos from our first two days. We plan to post photos and a more complete entry when we return. All is well. We are safe and happy in Ecuador! The journey to Ecuador was the longest door-to-door trip that either of us have ever taken. It took 49 hours for us to get from take off in Portland to touch down in Baltra on Santa Cruz in the Galapagos Islands! We managed to spend all 49 hours inside an airplane or an airport. 24 of those hours were at the Miami airport due to a combination of delays based on weather and incompetence of American Airlines.
