Took the ferry this morning to Portofino, another postcard perfect harbour. The trip was just under 2 hours & after the first 20 minutes we pulled into dock & I said, "this isn't it!"
Realised we were to stop twice more to pick up passengers. Doh! We were also taken to L'Abbazia di San Fruttuoso, which is the Abbey of San Fruttuoso, a Catholic abbey on the Italian Riviera between Camogli and Portofino.
You cannot believe the colour of the Mediterranean Sea. Even our waters in Queensland or WA don't compare - it's completely different & so warm & clear.
Nothing can prepare you though for the entrance into the Portofino harbour. So beautiful. Small, quaint, but again very rich with half a dozen superyachts moored & shops boasting Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Longchamp & Gucci.
Walked along the length of the harbour & made our way up to see the lay of the land. We always go up, as you are often rewarded with amazing views or can get your bearings.
Stopped for lunch at one of the waterside restaurants, seafood spaghetti for Scotti & home made pasta with bolognese sauce for me - not much different to home, & of course, aperol spritz.
Watched 2 massive superyachts come in to dock & laughed when half a dozen people got off, compared to the 100 that were on our little ferry!
Lovely return trip, the sea was quite smooth. Such a beautiful day out on the water.
Returned to the fort for dinner - we can't go past this place, it's so lovely.
Ate gelato in town, bought a dress, then watched a sea plane practising landing on the water at sunset while we had a Cinque Terre cocktail.
