Very quiet in the mornings, as the nights are so late. A few fitness types out but a calm sea & few people make it seem a different place.
Had breakfast in the hotel foyer, the staff couldn't be more helpful, then started our day at Riomaggiore, the last of the 5 towns that make the Cinque Terre. Very steep town & lots of places weren't open as we were so early. We tried to get to the highest point to get the lay of the land. A small harbour, beautiful cliff faces & the renown colourful buildings. Tried to get up to the fort but each time we found ourselves on a different level. Went to a little bar set right on the edge of the cliff face & ordered the local drink which is made from the vines that you can see on the hillsides beyond the town. Very sweet.
Next stop, Marànola, the town most known for the 'Cinque Terre' photos. Most people think that Cinque Terre is a town, but it's the area that encompasses 5 towns. It was really very pretty & very busy. Walked around a while & then returned to Monterosso to look in the shops & buy a few things & to try the local frinata. It was like a crispy cheese thin pancake. Had an aperol spritz & watched the people go by. Quite laid back really.
