Hello hello!!
Its been ages since I've enlightened you all with my tales of triumph and for that, sorry!
What you all want to know I suppose is where I am... Well dig straight down and I'm on the flip side. New Zealand.
After leaving cairns on Monday I battled my way through several flights to the be interrogated by the Auckland customs men. After searching me, questioning me and being convinced I was a heroin addict they let me free. Heroin? Behave, I said. Only cocaine. Some people aye...
Straight after my release I met two gap year girls, one from Lymington and the other Salisbury. We were all booked into the same hostel so it worked out pretty well when shared a ride into town.
From there on I was only glad to be spending hardly anytime in AKL as it's pretty flipin boring to be honest. One tall tower and a lot of boats... Great. Spent the evening with the two girls and then one of their friends turned up... Who just happened to be at Westbourne house as well! Small world!
I left AKL early the following morning and made my way south to Queenstown, where I am currently. I'll get this out the way first... This is one if not the best place I've been to so far!! It's so awesome.
I'm sharing a room with two Danish dudes, Morton and Thomas and we've all booked the same stuff together so have been hanging out with them all the time which has been awesome!
So... Day 1 in Queenstown... What to do? I know... Go and jump twice of a bridge 134m above a gorge and then match that with the world largest swing... Great idea. After an awesome night out we woke up, hanging out our asses and terrified to pieces. Having made our way to the Nevis Bungee big old Tom had to step up and go first... Oh crap.
Myself and Morton stepped into a little cable car that journeyed us across the gorge to a suspended hut 134m (incase you've forgotten) above the ground...
Within seconds my legs were strapped together and I was gripping my camera in one hand and standing on the ledge, looking 134m below me... With just a rope on me...
5,4,3,2,1 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
That's pretty much what followed. And it was the sickest 9 seconds of free fall ever! Very different to a skydive but twice as fun! Baring in mind just how fun a skydive is!! FREAKING AWESOME!
I got dragged back to the top, asked to jump again and re-lived the 9 seconds... Just this time with the fear factor eliminated. Win.
With a massive smile on my face we headed over to the worlds largest swing...170m above the ground with a hell of a lot of fun! Morton and I went as a tandem and went upside down facing the other way so we had NO idea what was coming and then boom, we dropped, and that of course was insane.
Day over... How to top it off? Get crazily drunk. Ha.
Next day... River Surfing... Okay, so. Imagine a rapids river with a load of whirlpools and massive rapids... Give yourself a body-board and venture the 10km journey. I haven't had to do so much exercise in a very long time but it was absolutely insane fun!! Surfing down massive rapids, getting thrown around in Whirlpools and getting dragged down by underwater currents! Bad news was that bang in the middle of the biggest rapid, both my legs got cramp... Badly! I screamed, a lot. So I in turn got thrown around helpless in Natures washing machine. Drama over I popped up and got blown down into a calm bit where I could stretch it out.
As expected... River surfing was awesome!
However... That was matched by today's canyoning. We all headed, tired and hungover (again) into an Insanely cold canyon and jumped off 10m waterfalls, did massive slides, lots of absailing and climbing with a fair few zip lines too! Awesome awesome day!!
So another big night out tonight for myself and the guys and girls and then a slightly more chilled day tomorrow... Naaaat!!
My plan by the way...
Leaving here on Sunday. Fiji, Monday, for a week.
Love and peace.
Brave Tom
