Well as expected it was pouring it down when we got to Koh Phangan. The hotel seemed nice enough but it was out of the way of the main town and shortly after we arrived there was a series of power cuts. So we were not in the best of party moods to begin with, sitting there with no electricity or water and the rain heaving. To say we were feeling a little apprehensive about the week ahead would be an understatement, but it's amazing how these things can turn around. Amidst the depths of mine and Ben's depressed silence in the dark hotel room we luckily met Vicky, a cool lass from Essex staying in the room next to us. We got chatting and arranged to go to a pool party at one of the bungalow places in town as a group along with Lucie, a girl she was travelling with staying in a different hotel. About 5 minutes later the electricity came back on and about an hour later the beer started flowing and all was well, thank god! The pool party was freakin insane!! We painted oursleves up in neon body paint, got appropriately smashed and spent the night either dancing our asses off to god knows what music and messing about in the pool. Vicky and Lucie are c-r-a-z-y. Suffice to say the next day we chilled the hell out getting over the hang over, although my idea of a casaul game of s***head in the evening was fiercely shot down which was gutting haha. The next day was the infamous full moon party night. We made sure we all had a siesta that afternoon of course and as the evening approached we began knocking back the bevies whilst playing ring of fire and Vicky gave us all extravagant neon make-overs that she'd been planning for 2 days bless her. The full moon party was awesome! An entire beach of blaring music and people going nuts I can't even describe the mahem. It seemed to go so quickly though, one minute I was bucket in hand, dancing away like an idiot and chatting to f*** loads of people I can't even remember, and then the next minute the sun was up and I was swimming around in the sea with my clothes on. Anyway we all had a great night and finally crashed about midday the next day. To top it all off it was sunny the next 2 days so we managed to mooch around at the pool a bit (no doubt Vickie's ass was sore after losing out twice at pool donkey with a volleyball haha) and on Friday we hired out scooters. We went cruising around the whole island (partly because we got lost), which is actually quite nice and tropical away from the touristy area, and no-one managed to kill themselves which was a bonus. We tried to go out again on Friday night but we were all too shattered from the week so just chilled. On Saturday we said our goodbyes to the legends that are Vicky and Lucie and headed back to Bangkok enroute to Chang Mai. We are heamorrhaging money like no-one's business getting around but what can we do, best not worry about it and just enjoy ourselves. The next couple of weeks or so is going to be a lot of moving around and sleeping on buses, but hey no messing about ay this what we are here for.
