Part One: Bangkok to Beijing (well almost)
So after several months of planning I am leaving on a jet plane for five whole weeks! Five weeks in Cambodia, Vietnam and China. Five weeks of ambling around these far flung kingdoms, empires and nations. Five weeks of amazing adventures and the challenges which almost inevitably accompany these. And of course, need I say, five weeks with no work.
Sadly the first casualty of the trip was the loss of Thailand to our itinerary last week. We figured a trip without civil unrest and the risk of being shot is preferable. So after a somewhat long journey that starts tomorrow, I'll be one night in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), the capital of Vietnam on Saturday night and then meeting up with the girls in Siem Riep in the Kingdom of Cambodia on Sunday to kick start our trip in style at the Temples of Angkor Wat. Indeed, ten years after trying to visit them (held back in 1999 by Thai/Cambodian conflict) I can not think of anywhere I would rather start this trip
So yesterday's dream is today's reality, and internet allowing, read on to keep up to date with our wanderings around Indochina and beyond.
