I awoke bright and early this morning after a long and peaceful sleep at 8:30am to find that I was the last to get up, which makes a change as I'm usually the first to get up at King's Cross, don't want to miss the free breakfast!
So I got up and changed, had a leisurely breakfast then left the hostel at 10am. The walk to the starting point was 30 minutes so I knew I was in for a big trek!I started off at Echo Point lookout which gave amazing views of the whole of the Blue Mountains and especially the 3 Sisters!I then started walking down the Giant Stairway, I'll tell you what this was 10 times worse than the 197 steps at home. It had about 800 steps and was very very high up, some of the steps were pretty rickity too, not good for my vertigo!Still at least I wasn't walking up them! When i got to the bottom I carried along on Federal Pass where it took me to the Scenic Railway where people can tour around the Blue Mountains on a train! It was here where it had the old Katoomba mines too and even had a sculpture of a horse carrying mining things.
After this I walked back via a different route as I didnt want to be walking back up the giant stairway. It was still just as tiring doing this route though! I'll be honest I didnt see that many good lookouts on this route there was a lot of forestry. I finally got back up to the top and back to the hostel. It was around 3ish when I got back. I got chatting to the receptionist when I got back and she suggested that I try to keep as high as possible to enjoy the lookouts. So thats what I would do tomorrow.
Pretty quiet night at the hostel, had dinner, read, went on the internet and then bed! There was a 70 year old drinking red wine when I went to bed, funny times as I was now the sober going to bed early person!
