This ones for the Vag's
Galway, Ireland
We just got to our hostel for the next two night in Galway now. It's called Sleepzone and it's rated
like #7 in world!! It's pretty amazing I must admit. When I walked into
the kitchen the first thing I saw were some giant recycling containers
and right then I knew that I would love this place. Damn I love those
tree hugging hippies. So last night we went out to this pub called The
Kings Head - it was ridiculous! There was a live band playing mostly
American rock music - everything from the beatles to Elvis (they loooove
those damn elvis tunes) to Pat Benatar. I was hoping for some more irish
music but I guess on a Sat night everyone wants to "rock out" as carleen
put it. The pub was a lot of fun. We saw a lot of people out for
bachelor and bachelorette parties dressed in everything from cowgirl out
fits - to play boy bunny outfits - to scottsmen in all out kilts! We got
pretty messed up and were disappointed when the pub, which was a self
calimed lat night pub, closed at 2am. We were like 2am's a late
night?!?! Try more like 4am!! I guess all in all my heart does belong in
Buffalo - or at least my party girl side does. So after leaving the pub
rather messed up we deicded to walk the 3 kilometers back instead of
getting another taxi. I don't know I found it but I managed to get us
back just fine. I'm so awesome when it comes to walking in cities
without a map!! On our way out earlier in the evening I spotted a 24
hour 7-11 type of place so on our walk back we stopped at the Irish
version on the 7-11. I was soo stoked, especially when we got inside and
there was an Indian guy working!! I was like 7-11 guy!! It made me so
giddy. So we got some frozen pizzas and water and hoofed the rest of the
drunken stooper back to "the village" as I like to call it. Being the
americans we are we microwaved our mini frozen pizzas and watched the
irish version of VH1's insomniac theatre and then hit the hay around
3am. It was a great night. I had trouble sleeping though and was like
up,up by 7am. "The village" is just outside of town so since I was so
awake I decided to go for a morning run. I found this path that went
along the river cutting through some foresty areas. It was beautiful. I
loved feeling the morning mist of the rising dew on my face while I ran.
I ran for about a good 15 minutes just basically through the countryside
along this river. So now we're about to tour around the city of Galway - I think we're hitting up the world cup match on tonight at one of the local pubs. Cheers!
