As the sun was fast approaching the horizon, Tristan knew he had one shot at it. Tara is a stickler for dates... It was our three year anniversary.
After we set up camp at the beautiful Mt Little Station, Tristan thought it would be romantic to wander down to the gorge, forgetting they were in the middle of a drought... There was no water... Just flies.
So as the sun was still setting for the day...it was a last ditched effort. The station manager had earlier mentioned Mt Little. But what was it? She said something about a 4WD track, but they were everywhere. Which track? Tara kept saying dont worry, we can just have the champagne back at the camp.
Luckily for Tristan we bumped into the station manager.... just through the gate towards the old homestead she said.... hard left after the gate. Her husband said it can be a bit rocky, but stick it into low range and take your time- you'll be fine. That was it! Off we went in search of Mt Little... or so Tara thought. As Larry slowly and carefully dragged us up the steep and very rocky incline- we reached the summit.
A 360 degree view of the most stunning Flinders Ranges and at sunset. As we hopped out, Tara was straight for the Champagne in back of the Engel. It was at that moment Tristan realised she was going to pop the champagne before he could pop the question.
"Hold it, Hold it". It was at that moment Tara knew something was up. The single thing she never saw coming. (Tristan had convinced Tara that he didn't have time to look for a ring and we would search for one on our trip!) Before Tristan could even open the box to reveal the ring.... The waterworks started- and not just from Tara!
Tristan: "So you havent said yes yet?"Tara: "Well you haven't bloody asked yet!"
And as they say the rest is history... The best way to start our trip of a lifetime.
